Neuroimmunological disease consists of diverse disease in which dysregulated immune cells attack either the central nervous system (brain, spinal cord, and optic nerve) or peripheral nervous system (neuromuscular junction and peripheral nerve). Among those involving the central nervous system, multiple sclerosis is the most widely known disease. However, a considerable number of patients suffer from neuroimmunological diseases other than multiple sclerosis, such as neuromyelitis optica with aquaporin4-IgG or MOG-antibody associated encephalomyelitis, which differ in their treatment and prognosis.
- Development of new treatment target of the immunological diseases using translational research strategy
- Development of new diagnostic/prognostic biomarker for neuroimmunological diseases
- Improvement of outcomes and quality of lives of patients with neuroimmunological diseases
